ワークショップ in ブリュッセル

3月21日、ベルギー・ブリュッセルにて金継ぎワークショップを開催しました。オーガナイザーは、2025大阪万博でEU館の責任者として活躍されたConcha Fernandez氏。金継ぎに深く魅力を感じ、浜松のつぎのばアトリエも訪問してくださった彼女とのご縁により、彼女の住むブリュッセルにて金継ぎを紹介する機会を得ました。
イベントはブリュッセルの閑静な住宅街にある邸宅の一室にて、プライベートワークショップの形式で行いました。「金継ぎとは」という基本的なことからはじまり、魅力や歴史などについて対話型の講座を行いました。その後、金継ぎの最後の工程である金蒔きの工程を体験していただきました。金継ぎはもちろんのこと、漆に触れるのも初めての方ばかりで、みなさん集中しながら興味をもって取り組んでくださいました。多くの質問や会話を交わしながら、金継ぎについて知っていただく豊かな時間となりました。
Workshop a Bruxelles
Il 21 marzo abbiamo tenuto un workshop di kintsugi a Bruxelles, in Belgio. L’organizzatrice è stata la Sig.ra Concha Fernandez, che ha ricoperto un ruolo di responsabilità per il Padiglione dell’Unione Europea all’Expo di Osaka 2025. Profondamente affascinata dal kintsugi, ha anche visitato l’atelier Tsuginoba a Hamamatsu; grazie a questo legame, abbiamo avuto l’opportunità di presentare il kintsugi nella città in cui vive, Bruxelles.

L’evento si è svolto in forma di workshop privato, in una stanza di una residenza situata in un tranquillo quartiere residenziale della città. Abbiamo iniziato con le basi—“che cos’è il kintsugi”—per poi sviluppare una lezione dialogica sulla sua storia e sul suo fascino. Successivamente, i partecipanti hanno potuto sperimentare la fase finale del processo di kintsugi, ovvero l’applicazione della polvere d’oro.

Per tutti i partecipanti si trattava non solo della prima esperienza con il kintsugi, ma anche del primo contatto con l’urushi. Tutti hanno lavorato con grande concentrazione e vivo interesse. Attraverso numerose domande e scambi, è stato un momento ricco e significativo per approfondire la conoscenza del kintsugi.
Workshop in Brussels
On March 21, we held a kintsugi workshop in Brussels, Belgium. The organizer was Ms. Concha Fernandez, who served in a leading role for the EU Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka. Deeply drawn to kintsugi, she also visited the Tsuginoba Atelier in Hamamatsu. Through this connection, we were given the opportunity to introduce kintsugi in her home city of Brussels.

The event took place as a private workshop in a room of a residence located in a quiet residential area of the city. We began with the fundamentals—“What is kintsugi?”—followed by an interactive lecture exploring its history and appeal. Participants then experienced the final stage of the kintsugi process: the application of gold powder.

For all participants, it was their first encounter not only with kintsugi but also with urushi lacquer. Everyone engaged with great focus and curiosity. Through many questions and exchanges, it became a rich and meaningful time to deepen their understanding of kintsugi.

展覧会KIN in アオスタ
現在イタリア北部のValle d'Aostaにて実施されているKIN展。圖子の作品も紹介されているこの展覧会の特別企画として、3月28・29日に金継ぎの講演会とワークショップを実施しました。
当日はキュレーターのRoverta Vergani氏のギャラリーツアーもあり、多くの方が会場に詰めかけていました。
イベントの通訳には、タッグを組んで久しいIsabella Guarino先生に入っていただき、会場の皆さんとも楽しくやりとりしながら金継ぎについて紹介しました。特に、展覧会は日本の「金」をテーマにした作品が多く展示されていたため、なぜ漆での繕いの加飾に金を使用するようになったのかということを、会場の作品を例に出しながらお話しました。
両日合計40名もの方にお越しいただいた今回のイベント。このイタリアの北の街にも、金継ぎの風が吹いたことを嬉しく思います。▶︎展覧会KINについて
Mostra “KIN” ad Aosta
Attualmente è in corso la mostra “KIN” nella Valle d’Aosta, nel nord Italia, che presenta anche opere di Zushi. Nell’ambito di questo progetto speciale, il 28 e 29 marzo abbiamo tenuto una conferenza e un workshop dedicati al kintsugi.

Durante entrambe le giornate, era prevista anche una visita guidata a cura della curatrice, la Sig.ra Roberta Vergani, che ha attirato numerosi visitatori. Per l’interpretariato dell’evento, siamo stati affiancati dalla Prof.ssa Isabella Guarino, con cui collaboriamo da tempo, permettendoci di condividere il kintsugi con il pubblico in un’atmosfera vivace e partecipata.

Poiché la mostra presentava molte opere incentrate sul tema dell’“oro” in Giappone, abbiamo approfondito anche le ragioni per cui l’oro viene utilizzato nella decorazione delle riparazioni con urushi, facendo riferimento alle opere esposte.

In totale, circa 40 persone hanno partecipato all’evento nelle due giornate. Siamo lieti che anche in questa città del nord Italia sia arrivato il fascino del kintsugi.▶︎ Informazioni sulla mostra “KIN”
Exhibition “KIN” in Aosta
The exhibition “KIN,” currently being held in Valle d’Aosta in northern Italy, also features works by Zushi. As part of a special program for this exhibition, we held a kintsugi lecture and workshop on March 28 and 29. 

On both days, a gallery tour led by curator Roberta Vergani was also offered, attracting many visitors to the venue. Interpretation for the event was provided by Isabella Guarino, with whom we have long collaborated, allowing us to present kintsugi to the audience in an engaging and interactive atmosphere. 

As the exhibition featured many works centered on the theme of “gold” in Japan, we also discussed why gold came to be used in the decorative repair of objects with urushi, referring to the exhibited works as examples. 

A total of around 40 participants attended over the two days. We are delighted that the spirit of kintsugi has reached this northern Italian city. ▶︎ About the exhibition “KIN”

金継ぎプライベートレッスン
イタリアの生徒さん向けに実施した金継ぎプライベートレッスン。それぞれが今修復している器を持ち寄り、作業や知識についての疑問を解消しながら繕いに取り組みました。遠く離れた場所でも、多くの生徒のみなさんが今でもこうして金継ぎを続けてくれていることを嬉しく思いながら、金継ぎの時間を共に楽しみました。
Lezione privata di kintsugi
Abbiamo tenuto una lezione privata di kintsugi per i nostri studenti in Italia. Ognuno ha portato gli oggetti che sta attualmente restaurando, lavorando alla riparazione mentre chiariva dubbi sia pratici che teorici. 

Anche a distanza, è stato motivo di grande gioia vedere come molti studenti continuino a praticare il kintsugi con dedizione. Abbiamo condiviso insieme un tempo prezioso, immersi nell’arte del kintsugi.
Private Kintsugi Lesson
We held a private kintsugi lesson for our students in Italy. Each participant brought the pieces they are currently restoring, working on their repairs while addressing questions related to both technique and knowledge. 

Even across great distances, it was a true pleasure to see so many students continuing their kintsugi practice. We shared a meaningful and enjoyable time together, immersed in the art of kintsugi.

ワークショップ in ROMA
4月26日、ローマ近郊にあるアグリツーリスモMadonnella Agricolaにて、陶芸家のKarla Sotresとともに金継ぎワークショップを開催しました。
Karlaとの縁は2021年から、彼女がトリノに金継ぎを習いに来てくれたことに遡ります。2022年にはローマにてコラボレーションイベントを開催しました。
そして2026年、4年越しで彼女との再コラボレーションが実現。Karlaの器に金継ぎを施した作品を新たに発表するとともに、金継ぎについて知ってもらうためのお話会を実施しました。また、金継ぎ碗で抹茶を飲んでいただき、繕った器を再び使うことができることも実際に体験していただきました。器への金蒔き体験は、みなさん非常に慎重に丁寧に漆を筆で塗り、蒔かれた金が輝く瞬間には感嘆のため息が聞こえました。
ワークショップの後は、大きなオリーブの木の木陰が涼しいテラスにてみんなでランチ。会場のMadonnella AgricolaのオーナーであるMariangelaさん手作りのお料理の数々が並んだほか、今回のイベントにインスピレーションを受けた特製の抹茶フィナンシェが振る舞われました。
イタリアの美しい自然の中、Karlaとの友情が運んでくれた新たな人々との繋がりに感謝する特別な1日となりました。
Workshop a Roma
Il 26 aprile abbiamo tenuto un workshop di kintsugi presso l’agriturismo Madonnella Agricola, nei pressi di Roma, insieme alla ceramista Karla Sotres. 

Il nostro legame con Karla risale al 2021, quando venne a Torino per studiare kintsugi. Nel 2022 abbiamo poi realizzato un evento in collaborazione a Roma. E nel 2026, dopo quattro anni, questa nuova collaborazione ha finalmente preso forma. 

In questa occasione abbiamo presentato nuove opere realizzate applicando il kintsugi alle ceramiche di Karla, accompagnate da un incontro dedicato alla conoscenza di questa pratica. I partecipanti hanno anche avuto l’opportunità di bere matcha da ciotole riparate con kintsugi, sperimentando direttamente come gli oggetti restaurati possano tornare all’uso quotidiano. 

Durante l’esperienza di applicazione della polvere d’oro, tutti hanno lavorato con grande attenzione, stendendo l’urushi con il pennello con estrema cura. Nel momento in cui l’oro iniziava a brillare, si potevano sentire sospiri di meraviglia. 

Dopo il workshop, abbiamo condiviso un pranzo sulla terrazza, rinfrescata dall’ombra di un grande ulivo. Sono stati serviti piatti preparati con cura da Mariangela, proprietaria di Madonnella Agricola, insieme a speciali financier al matcha, creati appositamente per l’occasione. 

Immersi nella splendida natura italiana, è stata una giornata speciale, resa possibile dall’amicizia con Karla e dai nuovi incontri che ne sono nati.
Workshop in Rome
On April 26, we held a kintsugi workshop at the agriturismo Madonnella Agricola, located just outside Rome, in collaboration with ceramic artist Karla Sotres.

Our connection with Karla dates back to 2021, when she came to Turin to study kintsugi. In 2022, we held a collaborative event in Rome, and in 2026—four years later—we were delighted to reunite for this new collaboration.

On this occasion, we presented new works created by applying kintsugi to Karla’s ceramics, alongside a talk introducing the philosophy and practice of kintsugi. Participants also experienced drinking matcha from kintsugi-repaired bowls, discovering firsthand how restored objects can return to everyday use.

During the gold application process, everyone worked with great care, delicately applying urushi with a brush. The moment the gold began to shine was met with audible expressions of wonder.

After the workshop, we gathered for lunch on a terrace shaded by a large olive tree. A selection of dishes prepared by Mariangela, the owner of Madonnella Agricola, was served, along with special matcha financiers inspired by the event.

Surrounded by the beauty of the Italian countryside, it was a truly special day—one made possible through friendship with Karla and the new connections it brought.
