ーConnecting the Memories of a Vessel

At KINTSUGI atelier – tsugi nuova, I restore vessels through traditional kintsugi using natural urushi lacquer.

What matters most to me is listening to the story each vessel carries.

  Where was it found?
  When did it enter your life?
  What moments has it witnessed?
  Why is it still difficult to let go of?

Through dialogue with each client, I seek to understand the history behind the object entrusted to me. Every repair is approached individually, so that the traces of restoration may harmonize with the character of the vessel itself.

Transforming cracks and chips into a landscape that leads back to everyday life.

Through kintsugi, I hope to help cherished vessels continue creating new memories for years to come.

Commissioning a Repair

1. Preliminary Estimate

Please contact me via the CONTACT form and include the following information:
1. Full name
2. Contact information 

• telephone number
• email address
• place of residence 

3.  Information about the vessel 

•  Type of object (cup, bowl, tea bowl, vase, etc.) 
•  Material (ceramic, porcelain, or other) 
•  Dimensions (diameter × height) 
•  Description of the damage 

4. The Story of the Vessel

• When and where did it come into your life?
• In what situations was it used?
• Is it connected to a particular person or memory?

Understanding the time a vessel has lived through and the feelings its owner holds for it is an important part of my restoration process.

The stories carried by an object often guide decisions about how it should be repaired.

I approach each piece individually, seeking a restoration in which the repaired areas become a natural part of the vessel's landscape and remain in harmony with the years that lie ahead.

Photographs should clearly show all damaged areas. Multiple images are welcome.

Within 1–3 days, you will receive a preliminary estimate together with information about the atelier.

If you wish to proceed, the vessel may be shipped to my atelier in Hamamatsu. For clients in Hamamatsu, personal collection can also be arranged. Direct delivery to the atelier is possible by appointment.

2. Final Estimate

After examining the vessel in person and measuring the damage, I will prepare a final estimate.

You may then decide whether to proceed with the restoration.

If you choose not to continue, the vessel will be returned to you. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the client.

3. Restoration

Traditional kintsugi with urushi requires many cycles of curing, polishing, and careful handwork.

Because each vessel is restored individually and with great care, the current restoration period is six months or longer.

Depending on the condition of the vessel and the chosen finish, additional time may be required.

4. Return of the Restored Vessel

For international commissions, the restored vessel will be shipped after payment has been received (via PayPal).

ーCustodire la memoria di un oggetto

Presso KINTSUGI atelier – tsugi nuova, restauro oggetti in ceramica e porcellana attraverso il kintsugi tradizionale con lacca urushi naturale.

Ciò che considero più importante non è soltanto riparare una frattura, ma ascoltare la storia che ogni oggetto porta con sé.

 Quando è entrato nella vostra vita?
 Dove lo avete trovato?
 Quali momenti ha accompagnato?
 Perché continua ad avere un significato speciale ancora oggi?

Attraverso il dialogo con chi mi affida un oggetto, cerco di comprenderne la storia e il valore affettivo. Ogni restauro viene eseguito con attenzione individuale, affinché le tracce della riparazione possano armonizzarsi con il carattere dell'oggetto stesso.

Trasformare crepe e scheggiature in un paesaggio che possa tornare alla vita quotidiana.

Attraverso il kintsugi, spero di aiutare gli oggetti più cari a continuare il loro cammino e ad accogliere nuovi ricordi.

Come richiedere un restauro

1. Preventivo preliminare

Vi invito a contattarmi tramite il modulo CONTACT includendo le seguenti informazioni:
1.  Nome e cognome

3.  Informazioni sull'oggetto 

•  Tipologia (tazza, ciotola, vaso, ecc.) 
•  Materiale (ceramica, porcellana o altro) 
•  Dimensioni (diametro × altezza) 
•  Descrizione del danno 

4.  La storia dell'oggetto

• Quando e dove è entrato nella vostra vita?
• In quali occasioni è stato utilizzato?
• È legato a una persona o a un ricordo particolare?

Conoscere il tempo vissuto dall'oggetto e il legame che il proprietario conserva con esso rappresenta per me una parte importante del processo di restauro.

Le storie custodite da un oggetto offrono spesso indicazioni preziose sul modo in cui affrontarne la riparazione.

Ogni intervento viene eseguito singolarmente, affinché le tracce del restauro possano diventare parte integrante del paesaggio dell'oggetto e continuare a vivere in armonia con il tempo futuro.

Vi prego inoltre di allegare fotografie dell'oggetto.

Le immagini dovrebbero mostrare chiaramente tutte le parti danneggiate. È possibile inviare più fotografie.

Entro 1–3 giorni riceverete un preventivo preliminare e le informazioni relative all'atelier.

Se deciderete di procedere, l'oggetto potrà essere spedito al mio atelier di Hamamatsu. Per chi si trova nella zona è possibile concordare anche il ritiro o la consegna diretta.

2. Preventivo definitivo

Dopo aver esaminato personalmente l'oggetto e misurato il danno, preparerò un preventivo definitivo.

Sarà quindi possibile decidere se procedere con il restauro.

Nel caso in cui decidiate di non proseguire, l'oggetto verrà restituito. Le spese di spedizione per la restituzione resteranno a carico del committente.

3. Restauro

Il kintsugi tradizionale con urushi richiede numerose fasi di essiccazione, levigatura e lavorazione manuale.

Poiché ogni oggetto viene restaurato singolarmente e con grande attenzione, il tempo di lavorazione attuale è di almeno sei mesi.

A seconda delle condizioni dell'oggetto e della finitura scelta, potrebbero essere necessari tempi più lunghi.

4. Restituzione dell'oggetto restaurato

Per le richieste provenienti dall'estero, l'oggetto restaurato verrà spedito dopo il ricevimento del pagamento (tramite PayPal).

Si prega di notare che non è possibile assumere responsabilità né offrire risarcimenti per eventuali danni verificatisi durante il trasporto.
